Just Another Update

Yesterday was my weekly weigh-in day, and I did weigh but got busy with the usual Christmas stuff and never posted. But hopefully you enjoyed the low carb bagel recipe (so good!) Anyway, short post today. I weighed in at 218 pounds... a 2 pound loss for the week. It's a milestone in two ways: first, it's 40 pounds lost since late August when I started phentermine. And second, it's 60 pounds gone again from my blog starting weight of 278 pounds. I already have two sets of "60 Pounds Gone" photos from 2008 and 2010 (I also hit this weight in 2013, but I don't think I bothered with pictures). So I'm going to wait and do progress photos when I hit 70 gone.

In case you missed it, I posted everything I ate or drank for one week on my Instagram (lynescapes)... everything before the weight graph photo is a solid week of my food intake. And I've been sharing my main meals there since then as well. Check it out if you're curious! Now I need to go wrap some presents!

Congrats on the ongoing weight loss. Would love to hear your take on what it's like to be at a particular weight a second time.

I lost a bunch of weight a few years ago. I remember when I hit 199 going down. I have these great pictures. Fast forward a seroius brain injury and a few years of rehab later and the weight started going back up. When I hit 199 on the way back up, I looked and felt different.

I couldn't fit into the same outfit as before. This time I was bigger at 199. The whole process - losing weight again - has been interesting.

I like hearing what other people's experience with regain and loss is like. So much to learn!

Thanks! It really is different each time. I feel smaller at 218 this time than I did the other times. I can fit into slightly smaller clothes, too. And you're right. On the way down from 278, 218 felt positively slim! Or at least normal, lol. But on the way UP the scale from 175, 218 felt massive... sloppy... huge. Right now I feel good. I think over time my image of my body has gotten more realistic and less emotional, too. I know I look and feel much better than I did a few months ago, but I also see how big some parts of my body still are. I am trying to go on how I feel and my health rather than looks, but yes, looks matter to me too!

What wonderful news that you are doing so well. Merry Christmas Lyn! Keep up the good work and enjoy the holidays! It’s excellent that this medication is curbing your hunger over the holidays. In January everyone is is weight conscious and it feels a bit easier. 😉

Your weight loss has been amazing! I'm curious how phentermine compares to Medifast, both experience-wise and in terms of rate of loss. I would love to hear your thoughts on that.

That would make an interesting blog post. I might write about it over the holidays. Thanks for the idea!

Just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and congratulations on your weight loss so far.

You are doing what I wish I could be doing. But my GP frowned at me when I asked about a prescription for phentermine and said, "Weight loss is simple. Exercise 60 minutes each day and do not eat carbs."

I should have said something but I am just too tired from yet another man telling me how simply the world works, if I only had some willpower.

Maybe I"ll talk to my OB/GYN. She would probably be more sympathetic...

Thanks last Anon. I agree with asking the GYN. If weight loss was simple, no one would be fat! I got my script from my endocrinologist but my primary Dr had offered it to me a few years ago, too. So glad they are open minded. Merry Christmas to you, too!
