Today I drank less juice and ate more food. I just got super hungry, all day long. In the morning after my first juice, I had a bit of a headache... a hunger headache, if you know what I mean. I made more juice and that got me through for a bit, but I was hungry again quite quickly. Most of the time while I've been juicing, I don't get very hungry until around dinnertime. But today I was just ravenous. I had my quarter of an avocado. I had half a banana. I drank some coconut water and ate a square of dark chocolate. But I was hungry again soon after. More juice... and more juice. And then I had a bit of cheese (first non-vegan morsel of today) and a slice of deli ham, because I was craving salt. A bowl of popcorn later and I decided to have a nice, hearty dinner. We ordered Indian food, and I put my Tandoori chicken and a bit of vegetable curry over a large bowl of homemade fresh, steamed butternut squash and spinach. Now THAT was amazing! Who needs rice? Now I am perfectly satisfied.
Juices for today contained the following:
Green Juice: 6 spears of asparagus, 1 apple, and 1 very large cucumber (very light and tasty!)
Orange Juice: just under a pint of yellow cherry tomatoes, 1 orange, 1 apple, and 4 large carrots (yummy)
Nutrition for the juices today: 442 calories, 106 g carbs, 11 g protein, 2 g fat
Nutrition stats for the whole day: 1726 calories, 206 g carbs, 55 g protein, 85 g fat
I am also getting between 4,000 and 5,000 mg of potassium per day, which is probably contributing to better blood pressure.
I think the juicing is going to start winding down soon. I still will juice my greens when I don't feel like eating them, and I do enjoy my juices. My main goals were to see if this would give me more energy (no), see if this would give me some extra nutrients that might be the key to ending my plantar fasciitis (no), see if this would help lower my blood pressure (yes), see if this would help redirect my cravings to produce instead of junk (yes), and just to try something I'd never tried before. I have plenty of produce left so will juice for another couple of days as I start adding more protein and whole vegetables back in for snacks and dinner. I will say that everything tastes *so much better* while I've been juicing. I had some scrambled eggs the other day and they tasted amazing! And today when I had a square of 88% dark chocolate, it had so much flavor and complexity and I enjoyed it even more than I usually do.
I am going to the doctor in about a week. I asked for another set of cortisone shots in my feet. We'll see what he says. I am tired of the nagging, limiting ache in my feet and although they have gotten a lot better, it is still hurting and I am really sick of it. I hope the shots will give me a two month reprieve from pain like they did last summer.
Scale still says 230.
