I am thankful for my children, for each one of the five I have been blessed with. I am thankful for the memories of rocking my babies to sleep, the experience of feeling their warm skin against me, of watching them grow and learn and for their presence in my life today and every day, which gives me joy.
I am thankful for friends who reach out with kind words and thoughts and prayers in one of the worst times of my life. I am thankful for smiles and tears and hugs and compassion.
I am thankful for a warm, comfortable home surrounded by trees I planted long ago when things were so different, yet they continue to bloom in the spring and delight me with their blossoms as well as their bright colors in the fall.
I am thankful for a God I don't really understand, but who I talk to and cry to and in some measure I think that gives me comfort.
I am thankful for the health I do have and for the parts of me that do work. And for the possibility of change for the better.
I am thankful for the light at the end of the tunnel, for the stars in the darkest night, and for hope.
