Sunday Morning

Well, I don't know what I have but it sucks...

My lungs seem to be clear and not congested. My nose isn't congested at all either although I do have a cough. My fever has never gone over 100. I was feeling so bad that I went to bed at 8 last night (had to get up at 11 to let the dogs out) and slept fitfully until about 6. The chills are pretty much gone but now my whole body is SO sore. My back, my shoulders, my ribs... all hurt and are very sore, plus an awful headache. And the fatigue.

I think because my lungs don't seem affected I will wait another day and see if perhaps my regular doctor is open tomorrow. I don't think it would be a good idea to go sit in the urgent care clinic for a couple of hours with all the other sick people today.

I probably drank more than a quart of orange juice yesterday and a pint of chicken soup. I also had some crackers, applesauce, and some pumpkin mixed with ricotta. I regret the crackers because now I am wondering how much of my feeling lousy is due to eating wheat/gluten and higher carb, and how much is due to my actual illness. My stomach has been bothering me prior to that and it is hard to eat much protein or fruit/veggies.

This morning when I got up I put an empty pot on the stove and then went to rest. Later, I poured in some chicken stock and went to rest. Gradually over the morning, I have spent a minute here and there throwing stuff in the pot (because I feel too weak and tired to do it all at once): cabbage, onion, garlic, canned tomatoes, seasonings, celery, and green beans. Finally it is simmering on the stove. I will pour in a bit of olive oil next time I go in the kitchen, and after it gets cooked very well and soft, I will have a nice healthy and comforting way to get some veggies into my tired body.

I had the same thing last week. It took about a week to finally move on. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm wondering if you can't stop thinking everything you eat is affecting you? Some days you just need what I call "mental" health days, where you just be yourself. There has to be a moment in life where you are content being you, fat, not fat or whatever it is. I feel bad for you brain always thinking - is this good for me, bad for me, wheat, grain...just rest for a day and stop worrying.. get well!

I do think everything I eat affects me. But I don't think about it 24/7 or worry about it. I do think about it when I post on my blog, because it is a weight loss blog and that's what I write about here.

Thanks for the well wishes... I am doing a lot of resting! No energy for much else.

My (grown) kids have all had this the last couple of weeks. Like Suzy said, it takes about a week to feel better. They all slept for at least two days straight and said they felt like a truck ran over them.

Hope you feel better soon ...

When my back and ribs ached like that it ended up being shingles. I'd get checked out to rule that out, as the earlier treatment is sought the more effective it is.

My children have had shingles, yes I know that's strange, and our Dr. Said there is no treatment. It's a form of chicken pox and you just have to suffer through. I'm wondering what your treatment was.

I too have had shingles... earlier this year actually... It's not just "sore ribs and back", it's an itching, fiery pain that burns if you look at it, put a single layer of clothes on or even think about! It's a skin issue and you may be sore but you definitely don't have flu or pneumonia symptoms like Lyn has!
