Great Day and Reviews

It's such a beautiful fall day today and I am so enjoying it! The sunshine, the gold and red leaves, the fresh air... just lovely. I went to PT for my feet and then took my dog for a walk at the park this morning. Now I have all the windows open in the house, letting in the fall breeze while I do laundry and chores.

So far today I've had:
Early breakfast: black coffee, EAS AdvantEdge shake
Later breakfast: pumpkin ricotta "cereal" w/almond milk and walnuts
Lunch: the last bit of leftover cabbage soup and the last bit of leftover kale with ham and onions
and now I am sipping an iced Americano with a bit of half and half.

Total so far: 512 calories, 31 g carbs, 25 g fat (43%), and 44 g protein

I need some ideas for dinner. I thawed five Jennie-O lean turkey breast patties that no one would eat as 'burgers', not even me, because they were so dry. I am going to break them up and brown them in olive oil like you would ground beef, and then use them to make something good. Suggestions?

I have a little more time to devote to blogging as the winter comes, so I've started accepting products and books for review again and will resuscitate my review blog shortly. Honestly, to me it is not about getting free stuff. It is about getting the truth out there about different things people are considering buying. There is a real dearth of honest reviews on things; a lot of bloggers will gush about how great something is even when it's not. I pride myself in my honest reviews. If something is gross or lame I say so. I try to give lots of details and tell the pros and cons. I also keep the reviews *over there* on my review blog so if you don't want to see them, you don't have to, but people searching for info on different things can find it there. I think it is fun.

Tomorrow is Gym Day. My membership runs out in less than 3 weeks, so I need to get my home gym totally set up by then. I have to fix a few things on my cable weight machine and then I should be good to go!

That's all for now... if you have ideas for a low carb ground turkey dinner, let me know!

Your Sensa review is funny.

How about making stuffed zucchini boats? Hallow out some zucchinis, brown the turkey with onions and tomatoes and Italian, and stuff them in. Top with cheese and bake.

I'm really glad to hear how happy you have been feeling. It's good to hear.

Two ground turkey suggestions:

1. Tacos: I cook the meat up with a chopped onion, the seasoning packet, and water. A little spray of Pam works beautifully. Then I top it with chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, reduced fat cheese, and reduced fat sour cream. You could also add any other veggies you want. I tell you, I never ever miss the shells/tortillas.

2. Stuffed Peppers: Again, cook the meat up with an onion, chopped mushrooms, a can of diced tomatoes, shredded carrots and celery, and mix in some reduced fat cheese and stuff it into peppers and slow roast them.

Tacos sound good! I am doing that. Tacos for the kiddos and a taco salad (no shell) for me :) Thanks!

Idea for the dry turkey. Add it to canned vegetarian chili. Spice it all up with apple cider vinegar and onions.

Try your favorite lean and green meals, with a small amount of healthy fat added in.

Be careful of product reviews that include food. And be careful of parties that include food. Lots of different ways to go off track and with one and spiral upwards with the other.

Safe travels and be aware of the lure of barcodes food and party food. Karen P

For dinner: kitchen sink hash. Brown meat and add whatever veggies are hanging around the fridge chopped finely. Add herbs and a bit of soy sauce to make a pan gravy type sauce. Serve over rice or cauliflower rice.
