I Weighed

I weighed in this morning for the first time in October. Looking at my stats over the past two weeks, what do you think I saw? Last weigh in was September 30, 221 pounds.

Maybe 221???

Oops, meant to finish my post!

Maybe 221?????

From someone who has watched the scale climb week after week during particularly stressful/discouraging times......

I think the fact that you went on a weekend away and didnt gain is very good. I suggest you keep on doing what you are doing, don't switch because it isn't appearing to work.....keep the faith :)

You kept your carbs low enough and that could cause a big loss. I would guess 215.

Oh the suspense!

I am so hoping for a loss for you. I think your head seems clear and you are eating well and I so hope you start to lose so you don't need to switch up your plan again potentially disrupting this clarity and peace you e been having lately. Can't wait to find out!

Not sure what number to guess, but I'm guessing it's surely a loss, based on the mysterious nature of this post, lol. At least, I feel like I wouldn't have my readers guessing only to reveal a gain later on.

I'm guessing 217!
I'm very intrested to know, I've been really enjoying reading your posts about carbs and made a decison to go on Atkins- so I'm VERY interested in how your higher fat/lower carb approach is working!

I would say 219 but I know that I can easily gain 6-7 pounds during pms that will come off few days later. Whatever the number you should weigh again in a few days.

I'm guessing 221, plus or minus a pound or so, because I think you are still underestimating the number of calories you are eating (I know you will disagree). I think you are eating at a maintenance level.

But I hope I am wrong and you post a significant loss!

216!

You have been hitting the macros you have wanted.. I would say.. a LOSS.. I would be surprised if you didn't really because your calories have been lower as well..

Anonymous said...

Hopefully lower in spite of mock cookies, which I wouldn't suggest when trying to break old habits.

215. You've always done very well when you lowered your carbs & counted calories. This time will be no exception (unless it's 212..)
:)

I would say no loss, based not just on the stats, but on the type of food you were eating (and also based on the fact that most people underestimate calories when calorie counting).

I really hope there is a loss, though, I hope you are getting where you want to go!

whatever the number is, I hope you still have good day and don't let the number take over your identity. You are more than a number on a scale or tag on a shirt. Be happy you are enjoying a gorgeous Fall day!!

re: underestimating~

could you explain how one underestimates calories if they are using a measuring cup and food scale? Do you mean that nutrition facts labels could be wrong/off significantly, or that the scale is off?

You said you were experiencing PMS... which means your progesterone should be up and you are retaining water. So I think your scale will show 221 or 220 and you will experience a couple pound loss when your period comes (and progesterone falls).

221. You're eating way too much fat and calories for weight loss. Look at your Medifast stats. You were on about 950 calories per day and far less fat. That's why you lost weight.

Have you looked into eating 90% fruits, vegetables and beans, 10% lean protein and healthy fats? Calories will automatically be low.(Eat to Live, Dr. Fuhrman) Foods in their original form that come from the earth are made specifically to fuel and give your body the nutrients it needs. I know that you know this! Fruit should not be a poison. Ridiculous! It makes me crazy when you choose a sausage patty over an apple. Apples don't make people fat. Sausage does! This high protein/high fat stuff is a bunch of bunk. Look at the results, for heaven's sake! Or keep doing what you're doing and stay fat.

I think you're making us guess because everyone will guess lower based on the stats and we'll be just as surprised as you were that you actually gained.

I hope it's down. There's nothing worse than working hard and seeing nothing to show for it! Hang in there!

Anonymous said...

Wow, the anonymous poster who cited the Fuhrman book needs to take a lesson is being polite!

Anonymous said...

I would say that if you lost anything, it wasn't much...it seems to me you're eating way too much. Of course I hope I'm wrong!

amazing how being anonymous allows you to be an ass!you have a good solid plan despite what the nameless ones say, stick to it, i'm sure you saw IMPROVEMENT!

I am working on a post and will finish it when I get back from the vet! Dog #2 has a gash on her chest!

I hope your dog is okay, Lyn. What happened to the poor thing?

I'm looking forward to your post . . . I will check for it after I get back from my training ride!

I agree with Timothy. Mean what you say, say what you mean, but don't say it MEAN! Easy to hide behind the anonymous banner.

i think bodies are different and again I go back to finding what works for YOU and staying with it despite what you 'think' you should be doing (altho I am 100% for the lower carb way, those carbs are the roots to MY evil) or what other people think. You are knowledgeable enough to know how to get results and how to adapt any plan into your own and make sure you continue to be healthy doing it. For others to guess and hypothisize this that or the other based on what works for THEM is crazy....we are not cookie cutter bodies:) I have faith in you!!!!

I guess less than 218. We follow primal living and first couple weeks was great loss! I lost 40 pounds in 5 months but then got pregnant! We weigh about the same now. Hope you stick with low carbs, high natural fat.

I'm a long time stalker but had to comment here, sorry for being anonymous. To the posters who claims she is eating too few calories, I think you are crazy. This kind of plan is solid and she WILL see results.

I'm rooting for you (from Norway)! I am guessing you're down to 215 or below :) can't wait to read your post!

Lyn...I don't know how you do it. Reading from all these anonymous comments. Especially the one who said "or stay fat"...who the heck are these people? I think I would shut it down. majority of ppl who write to you are not for you but waiting for your failure or so it seems. I often wonder the ones who say these things are the ones that are obese? hmm....anyway, good luck..maybe a pic or two would curb the needs of your readers. Maybe that would convince them that you are trying and not a 300lb person. Good luck! Rose

I'm with *most* people here in hoping you finally got to see a loss as reward for your efforts! Funny how we can all have such *very* different opinions and experiences about what works and doesn't work in terms of weight-loss. After reading one of these comments in particular, I will think twice about offering you advice when it's not asked for. Sorry if I've ever come across as pushy!

Oh, and if you haven't seen it already, I would highly recommend paleoforwomen.com - she has some great info about some of the hormonal aspects that come into play. You might also want to check out a podcast called "The Paleo View". Both of the hosts lost 100+ pounds and have some great insights about how to navigate the challenges of such a big weight-loss.

You mentioned PMS, I'd say that would cause some water retention. So I'd guess 219.

I suspect that Lyn did indeed lose weight. Has she ever posted a cliffhanger when she gained or maintained?

The dog got behind a shed and was climbing over some building materials and cut herself. Vet visit went well, she is on antibiotics and wrapped with gauze and should heal up just fine :)

Finishing that post now.
