On Being Kind

It's so hard to believe it's been two and a half years since our friend and fellow blogger Bethany passed away suddenly of a heart attack at the tender age of 33. It was a shock then, and a great loss to the weight loss community as she had a beautiful way about her, always leaving kind and supportive comments for others. This week (Monday) would have also marked her 36th birthday.

I think about her often. Her Memorial Blogroll lives on as a way to give support and build community and friendships among weight loss bloggers. In honor of Bethany, in her memory, won't you take a few moments today to offer some kind words and support to a struggling blogger? We are all connected, and we can change each others lives with just a few good words. Please open your hearts today and look through your own blog list or Bethany's Blogroll and find someone who could use a friend or some kind words on their journey. Leave them a note of encouragement; you may make a new and lasting friendship and you may bring brightness and hope to someone's tough day. Someone will do the same for you when you need it.

Kindness always blesses the giver.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

Thank you both.

I also wanted to add, if anyone would like your weight loss blog to be added to the Memorial Blogroll, just leave me a note here and I will add you.

I check the memorial blog a few times a week, just to see how folks are doing, especially since I don't blog much anymore and am not as active in the weight loss community. When I see her pic, I always feel that pang of sadness, sadness for her family's loss and her lost years. Which should encourage us all to get the health journey in gear in her honor, cause she can't do it. We should honor the time we have, cause it may be shorter than we'd like.

Thank you for the blogroll. And yes, when we're dealing with these tough issues, being kind counts a hella lot.

Thanks for your concern about Kevin and the boys. They are doing well and have adjusted. Of course, they still miss her, and we are hoping that they will soon have a new mommy! (HINT, HINT!)
