60, Again and Again and Again

I've been going to the gym 3 times a week this month, mainly for the strength training. Even when I didn't have time to stay and swim, I went and did the circuit for a half hour. I am really starting to get into the groove of it. I like the swimming, too, but it's harder to make time for that. This week I am going to try and swim more. It takes me 30 minutes to do a weight circuit and 10 minutes of warm-up walking or biking. It takes about 15 minutes travel time back and forth, so I am into it almost an hour already. Add a half hour of swimming and 15 minutes to shower and change in and out of a suit and that means and hour and 45 minutes at the gym. I don't always have a block of time that large to devote to the gym. So it's a matter of going twice a day at that point, which means more travel time and changing time. Or I can swim on alternate days, if I can get to the gym every day. Not always possible, but I am going to try and get in there and swim more this coming week and see if I can make it work.

I have not gotten on the scale for awhile. When I first started working out, the scale went UP instead of down, so I took some time off from the scale. I am a little hesitant to get back on it but I do think I need some feedback on whether my diet and exercise is having the desired effect or if I need to change something. I am pretty sure I am not gaining. My clothes are not tighter. I am not sure if they are looser, but they are definitely not tighter. I feel better, too. No headaches right now, no knee pain, but my feet still hurt. Anyway, I want to get back to weekly weigh-ins pretty soon. Maybe very soon. And I ought to put some new pictures up of where I am now. Funny how I have "60 Pounds Gone" and "60 Pounds Gone Again" progress pictures up from June 2008 and April 2010, and here we are again two years later around that same weight. My body seems to like to hang out here. I'd like to get a lower set point so I don't get back here yet again in 2014.

Time to make myself something to eat. Maybe some free range egg salad! Yum.

I read an article many years ago where a body builder was being interviewed. (Don't ask who as I do not remember) Anyway...they said something about not worrying whether the scale was up or down, but pay attention to the tape measure. It was a more accurate assessment of your progress. I should have paid better attention:)

I think it is very smart and honest of you to both weigh-in regularly and to post new photos of yourself. Both actions have you taking ownership of your behaviors and habits-IMO

Steps on the wellness path, as hard as it may be. Keep going. Karen P
