More Sickness

I don't feel well AT ALL this morning. I was up at 6:30 and felt fine, but tired. I had my cup of coffee as usual. Then I started to feel hot and sort of off. Maybe slightly nauseous. I thought I might be hungry and wanted to stay liquid just in case I am coming down with something, so I had a Medifast hot cocoa. I still have not gotten it all down. I feel a little dizzy, hot and cold, and varying between hungry (stomach growling) and full/nauseous. I've had sick kids this week: vomiting Monday and Tuesday, diarrhea yesterday and today. I can only assume I am coming down with whatever that was.

When I went to school the other day there were a lot of kids absent because of vomiting, and I saw a mother comforting her child as they threw up on the sidewalk at school. Yuck. Guess it's that time of year. Seems like this school year had had more than its share of illness going around.

I am going to stick with liquids until I am confident I am not going to start throwing up. I hate that.

That's all for now.

Did you and the kids get flu shots?

Oh no. I haven't been feeling up to par either - and some of my family too. Have had stomach aches and like you said, felt nauseaus and then hungry - strange. And I've been tired. OH well, I guess sleep is in order and hopefully it will go away fast!

No, my daughter is scheduled for hers in about 10 days. Will probably still get it.

I don't get flu shots either.. My ability to believe and trust the regular medical field has dimished... due to finding ways to make myself feel so much better than I EVER did before.. even with all there meds..

I do understand why you would do flu shots for someone who has a lung issue though..

Is there a chance this is actually your body noticing that your low carbing again.. like a sugar withdrawel? I'm not knocking medifast at all but I can't hide my sheer JOY that you are talking again about the whole food for life.. Lynn plan.. and I think i tend to agree with you in that you've probably been ill more due to random eatings of not so good foods.. but maybe it has something to do with the far swings in both directions on your system.. Just a thought..
regardless I hope you feel better.. and I am proud of your accomplishments and that you share your journey with us all..

Lyn, maybe you are feeling like crud because you aren't eating enough? Coffee usually upsets my stomach if I'm already feeling grungy...

On a different note, I had decided to skim back in the blog a couple of years, and noticed a dramatic change in feeling and in tone... you were eating whole foods, you were exercising, and you were JOYOUS.

If you get sick, remember the BRAT diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast (and yogurt and ginger). maybe try a little yogurt and some ginger tea?

feel better soon!

that's a possibility I had forgotten. I do tend to feel horrible withdrawing from sugar so that could be part of it.

The extreme swings in calories/carbs/nutrition are definitely not good for my body. Hoping that is stopped now.

Could be. I ate 3 scrambled eggs just now (local, free range) and feel a bit better already. Had a bit of baby spinach in them too.

About the tone change, when I go back in my blog I notice a tone change around November every year until Feb/March. I think it is seasonal affective disorder, though I do things to alleviate it somewhat. But I did definitely find more joy in shopping for and prepping fresh produce and I look forward to more of that.

I've been getting flu shots since the 70s and have not had the flu one time, so I am a big believer in them.
