Brief Update

I just wanted to post a short update since it has been several days since I blogged. I have a headache, so this will be kinda brief.

This week has been insanely busy. I don't have my head in the game. I feel distracted and unfocused a lot of the time and have been trying to make some kind of a longer-term "game plan" for my life (quite the task) while staying on top of things I need to do NOW. I am hovering between 202 and 205 pounds depending on the day, walking and being active but STILL have not gotten on the bike:

How embarrassing. This room has become the storage/junk room where I toss everything when I am cleaning the rest of the house. I went in there to shove the stuff aside and get on the bike and there is just nowhere to shove it. I have to get control of this room so I can GET to the bike. See the nice weight machine in the back? I've had that for more than a decade. Yeah, I need to fix this... and STOP tossing stuff in there to keep the rest of the house nice.

Let's see, what else? My little girl is "better" on the antibiotic she is taking, but she is so tired and the time change really did not help. Neither of us is getting enough sleep, and the pup forgot to turn her clock back and is now waking us up by 6am (and has no regard for weekends!) Leaves are falling and we will do plenty of raking this weekend.

I have a blog post in my head but don't have the time to get it out right now; maybe later today or tomorrow. Thank you for checking on me and caring. It means a lot to me.

Good to see you posting - I think everyone has a room or closet like that, you're not the only one! ;) Right now my closet looks similar...
Posting is part of getting back "into the game" - I hope to see you posting about your journey again soon. Maybe take some time for yourself and read some blogs - get inspired again?

They say your external world mirrors the internal world..especially around cluttering.
Perhaps this room is a metaphor for all the thoughts and feelings you push aside )throw into the room)..and when the door closes on the mess you can pretend it's not there..and everything looks good and neat and perfect ie the rest of the house. If you don't want to deal with it you hide it away..physically and psychologically.

Agree w/Dawn and Katie...a lot of my closets look like that & it's a product of me avoiding things that need to be dealt with...just sayin'... ;) Glad to see you, even if briefly, Lyn.

I was getting concerned. I'm sorry you're not completely well, but thanks for checking in.

Once you get a plan, I know you'll work it and get right back in the groove.

Wait, there's a bike hidden in the picture? ^^

My room looks just like that most of the time. We'Ve got a four-room flat (for two people, how decadent) - bedroom, living/dining room, the BF's tech den and my office. Which is where we keep boxes with stuff, the cats if we've got dogs visiting (or people who do not like cats), old clothes we haven't gotten around to donating yet, more boxes... *sigh*

(I moved my workout stuff into the living room so I could use it.)

Thanks for giving us an update Lyn. I too was concerned.

I used our spare room as a catch all but now the whole house has corners of catch all. It happens :)

My basement looked like that until the Great Basement Flood of 2011, Parts 1 - 6. It's so easy to let a little slip here and there turn into a big pile of schmutz - just like with the weight management. Hope you're feeling better ~

its easy to write posts when the going is good....but for us readers it helps to see all the dimensions. its a good reminder that just because you dropped 100 lbs doesnt mean it was a breeze. you have your bad days too and seeing you push through it makes me want to do the same.

Hey Lyn? You're worth the effort it would take to create a nice home gym, where you can access your bike and weight machine easily and have space for physical therapy exercises. Maybe some motivational posters, pictures, charts on the wall that track progress. Pretty up the room and make it yours. It would signal great things to your kids, too.

It was like missing a blogging friend. Glad to see you face in the place. You were missed. Let me add everyone should at least have one junk room. Did not say it was right; but everyone needs a room where all the madness go.
Don't stay away to long. Sending encouragement your way...

Wow, that's kind of crazy, a few sets of steel shelves along one wall would hold a lot of that stuff in an organized way and not take up too much floor space. Then it's a workout room and storage for overflow. My son put up four sets in a row from Home Depot for me along one garage wall. Not too bad at all for assembly and cost. Then your boys could work out on the weight machine also. They are great, hold luggage on top, some pantry/kitchen overflow and all the rest of homeless items. I don't have a basement, so this system holds a whole bunch of what would otherwise be clutter.

Give your boys a project this weekend, if you ask and bribe with Sunday football food and fun, I bet they would do it!

You'll get it cleaned up, so I'm not commenting on that. Just wanted to say I am glad you posted new rules about posting here. I am no saint but didn't care for the use of the F word or calling each other names, so good job!
