Thought of the Day

You can be a whining, thumb-sucking victim or you can choose to be the kind of person who gets back up, shakes the dust off, and says, "let's hit it again."

(paraphrased from Dave Ramsey, heard on the radio this morning).

He was giving financial advice, but I find it applies to many things, and a general attitude about anything we have to buckle down and do that is unpleasant.

More to come.

Funny, I used that brush oneself up, get up phrasing in posting about an upcoming weight loss challenge. I do think it's the essential trait for anyone changing/transforming. Gotta expect setbacks, but just keep pushing on, bruised and dusty and otherwise.

YOU GO, LYN, and will tune in for the "more". :D

I so needed that quote.

Reminds of the following quote:

Courage is being scared to death - but saddling up anyway.
John Wayne
US movie actor & director (1907 - 1979)
I always thought John Wayne wasn't scared of anything! So, it's okay to be scared-we can still do the thing we fear to do. Most things are upsetting but not truly dangerous in an immediate life or death way.

Have to add this too:
I've been drinking water as per your suggestions and I can't believe how such a little step makes me feel so much better.
And an unexpected side benefit is that it's actually helping my skin. It's softer and not as prone to breakouts or dryness.

yeah, i personally don't care for that either/or extremism; it kind of goes along with the whole on plan/off plan dualist mindset which represents the black and white thinking that gets so many of us (and keeps so many of us) repeating the same b.s. over and over (while expecting different results). cause, actually, i can be whiny and vulnerable and need my thumb sucked and my back patted a bit AND i can also be self aware while that's going on, and know that it's all okay, it's okay to be suffering sometimes. then i feel better about facing the harder stuff, too, 'cause i know i can dive into the pain if i need to. i dunno. not criticising. just musing here. :) (((hugs)))

Sounds like your wheels are turning, Lyn. I have always thought of you as a "never quit" kind of girl. I know you're in a bit of a rough patch but I also truly believe that you'll figure it out and soar over this hurdle.

great quote, one of my faves is hell is being in heaven and being to stupid to realise it!

I hear the persevering spirit in there- but remember the be kind to yourself at the same time-- it is a delicate balance... but I believe generally that people are often impatient and too hard on themselves, NOT the other way around.
Keep on keeping on..
