Update Pictures: 100 Pounds Gone!

Yes!!! Here they are, update pictures taken yesterday morning, at 178 pounds:

I am amazed, thrilled, overjoyed, and even stunned when I look at myself in the mirror in these size ten jeans. I keep wondering if I am dreaming!

I took my measurements, too. In just the last ten pounds, I have lost in the strangest places:

3/4" off my neck
1/4" off each wrist
1/2" off each calf
1/2" off my waist
3/4" off my hips
3/4" off each upper arm (yes!!!! Finally!!)
1 1/2" off my bust (I am in a B cup for the first time in 20 years! Always wore C or D before. And yes I am glad about this!)
1 1/4" off each thigh

My BMI has also gone down from 30.3 (Obese) ten pounds ago to 28.7 (Overweight) now! (I am 5'6).

Very pleased. Very, very pleased.

I could also tell you that my calves are now the same size my neck was when I weighed 278 pounds, and that I have lost 14.75" off my hips since I started this journey. I could share that my waist is 10" smaller now and my thighs each lost 6 3/4" over the last 100 pounds. I might tell you how my jeans went from a size 26/28 to a 10, and my tops went from 3X and 4X to a Medium.

But instead, I'll show you.

Now:

Cute pockets, huh? :)
I am so proud of this. I finally, FINALLY actually feel good about my body.
But, you ask, will she give a head-to-toe, full body shot, including her head?
Will she show her face?

Almost :)

Awesome work - and my Hubs just said, "WOW!" and he says you look like you are 140 lbs.

I can't wait to get where you are since I started my focus on getting healthy at 278 lbs myself :)

You should be very, very proud!

Wow...you look fantastic! Congratulations again!! I would love to see a before and after of your face because my face is like a totally different person right now with my weight on. I don't recognize myself in photos, and I know if I will lose the weight my face will look much different....maybe closer to what I remember? Although losing 50 pounds will probably not make me look like I lost 20 years. ha. Congratulations again, and thanks for sharing your journey.

Wow, Lyn. So interesting to see the before photos first. The 'new' Lyn looks like she could just run and run, & do anything she pleases and not tucker out.

I had to giggle a bit that you now have a back of a head, and a camera face. :) Maybe that will appease some ppl. "Will she show her face? Almost". hee hee.

You look (& I know FEEL) FANTASTIC!
So proud,
your also faceless friend, Chrissy.

You look FANTASTIC! Now, how long did this take so far?

And at what point did the color and texture of your hair change?

Lyn said...

Lanie Painie~

I began in August 2007. I lost 64 pounds by summer 2008, but then I lost NO weight (well, battled the same 20 pounds up and down and back up) through this past February, 2010 when I weighed 234 pounds. So this last 56 pounds took me almost 8 months.

Not sure what you mean about my hair texture... what do you see that's different? It's longish and naturally wavy/curly. The color may vary depending on what shade I choose to color it! :)

Helen said...

Absolutely, positively FANTASTIC.

And you earned every pound, I know you did. What a nice way to see the results of all your hard work!

Super Awesome! Way to go!

Could you tell us what your ACTUAL measurements are? I wonder how far off I am from a size 10! (I'm 171lbs and 5'6.5" so I feel like I could be a bit comparable to you).

bbubblyb said...

Looking great Lyn, I'm so proud of you and happy for you!!!

Lyn said...

icannotweight~

sure! These measurements are taken without clothes on (underwear/bra only) and I measure without compressing or squishing the fat. Since my fat is highly compressible, I can squiash it into a smaller space :)

bust 40.5"
waist 35"
hips 43.25"
mid thigh 22.25"
calf 17"
mid upper arm 14.5"

I want to be just like you, when I grow down.

I could not be more thrilled for you, Lyn. You're proof it can be done! Cyber hugs!! xxox

icannotweight said...

Thanks Lyn! :)

Do you measure your waist at your natural waist or your belly button? I realise we are actually very comparable in measurements, that is kind of neat to find someone around my height and size to look at!

I don't feel I look nearly as awesome as you do! :D This makes me smile to know that I can see my size on someone else (you!) and see someone who looks fabulous! You look fabulous!!

I measure at my natural waist, which was difficult when I weighed 278 pounds! So I have always measured my waist at the narrowest point of my midsection, and my hips at the widest point.

If you look at this pic:

http://escapefromobesity.blogspot.com/2010/09/seeing.html

in comparison to the ones from today, you will see what she means - it looked very dark and thick in older pictures. New cut? new highlights?

Claire said...

Congratulations, Lyn! You look fantastic! Love the jeans, too. :)

I just want to give you a big hug. (((((Lyn)))))

Cynthia said...

You look so fabulous! And thanks for sharing your measurements & height... I'm 5'7" and I started at 262 pounds, so this is really giving me hope and LOTS of it that maybe someday I can look this good. OK, maybe not, I'm older and going gray! Nevertheless, I'm motivated and I'm doing it!

I'm still getting excited by just 1/4" losses off my waist. So cool to see that the closer you get, the bigger the differences are!

I have a weird body... my fat stays mostly on my torso, upper arms and thighs. From elbows and knees down and neck up, I don't really look particularly fat. It will be interesting to see how things play out as I lose. I'd really love to lose some length off my feet, LOL! That probably won't happen though.

You've just come so far, it is wonderful to see!

Lyn said...

Vickie~

Ah yes, I see what you guys are seeing.

My hair is longer now, so the weight of it pulls it slightly staighter... more like loose spirals than the tighter curls. I also color my hair. I have gone lighter over the past year.

As for the thickness, yeah, I have noticed some thinning with the weight loss. I started losing some hair about 50 pounds in (back in '08), and then again about a month ago. I hate that it is noticeably thinner!! Maybe I should get some layers cut into it or something until it gets thicker again. I am taking Biotin and fish oil to try and help with that.

Lyn you are an INSPIRATION to all of us who have so far to go and need that shining light to help us through the darkness. And it is darkness. Food addiction is the only human frailty that can be 'seen by the naked eye' and makes its victims fair game for others to insult and pour their 'justified' (by the rest of the world) innermost feelings of inadequacy upon. We who are overweight, because food is our drug of choice, face loathing and ridicule, and at the same time, a Meth addict or anorexic receives sympathy and caring. I can't 'not' eat or I will die. If I eat too much, I will die. Finding the balance between what I physically need and what I mentally need is a task I wish upon no one.
Lyn, you are a success story, a legend who will help so many through their darkest hours. If Lyn can do it, so can I. Put the drug in its place - it's just food, after all.
Lyn I wish there were a million more like you in the world! You bring so much to so many, and your battle is heroic.

I am sure you are tired of being on a "diet" but look what your discipline has brought you - and your kids, for that matter. And seeing the ex must be, uh, somewhat sweet these days... I wish you the very best in your maintenance, whenever you decide you're "there" and will continue to read your page because, as they say, the easy part is losing, the hard part is maintaining. I can't wait to hear what you have to say about maintenance!! have a great weekend and enjoy your new body - you deserve it!

I am so proud of you! You definitely have encouraged me to get back on track.

You basically eat just like I did to lose weight, but I never had counted calories (and I'm sure I should).

Thank you for sharing your journey with this community!

God bless!
Beth

Stumbled upon your great cornbread recipe while searching for Dr Oz's roasted chickpeas one, and am dazzled by your site!! What an achievement, and huge thanks for sharing the journey. Purely inspiring!

You look terrific, Lyn!!! Very inspirational. I found your pics while googling hair loss with weight loss. My hair is thinning rapidly after a 60 pound weight loss and I am starting to panic. Still have 20 pounds to go and want to have hair when I get to my goal weight. I'll try the biotin and fish oil. Did you hair start coming back only after you stopped dieting?

Firstly of all I will echo all of the WOWs! Awesomes! and every other compliment that everybody has given you! totally 100% amazing job.

But moreso, you have convinced me that I still can have a decent body if I work at it. Sometimes I feel like I've been so big for so long that there is just no chance that I will ever look "normal". But you look normal. You look better than normal, you look fantastic. Thank you again for posting these!

Oh my!
I was reading your blog (I'm a new blogger so I'm reading around). I noticed your picture on the left hand side and thought to myself "I've seen this before!"
I must have seen this a year ago. I was thinking about starting my weightloss journey, which clearly didn't happen.
Now, I come back here and see that you have lost 100 pounds! I am shocked, yet motivated. My goal is to lose 150 pounds. I currently weigh 302 pounds.

Thank you for the inspiration! I wish you the best of luck continuing on your journey, and I plan to be back to read more.

God I can't bellieve how much you have lost! You look Amazing on these pictures and you have a nice figure. I'm also trying to lose weight by counting calories, eating healthy and exercising. I decided to create a blog with tips and my progress. If you want to have a look, tell me if you think I'm doing something wrong...I need support, feel lonely. You are doing an amazing job and are a good role model for many. Best regards

found your blog, also quite randomly. Congratulations on your weight loss and gaining control of your health and your life! Your story is very inspiring.

I, too, am 5'6' and I weigh 170 (90 lbs weight loss, not medifast, but) and am in a size 16 jean. What brand of jean are you wearing that is size 10? Not that size numbers matter, but I'm curious why my size is so different given that we have similar stats.

You look so beautiful! You looked beautiful before, but unfortunately if you want to live a little bit longer, you have to follow the dumb rules. I love your success and I hope you never forget how much you did on your OWN!

You are rocking those jeans girl! I am around your pre weight loss size and I am just starting my journey. When I shop for jeans I am a girl who loves cute pockets on my jeans, unfortunatly the bigger you get the less cute they start to look. However looking at your progress gets me excited to get to my weight loss goal too. Thanks for showing others that they can do it too.

WOW! THIS IS TRULY AMAZING, AND YOU LOOK VERY...EXCELLENT! Gosh I don't even know what to tell you.

Well, I will begin here:

You are a true inspiration, and motivator. Wow! I just stumbled upon your blog, because I was looking up heart palpations, and ta-da! Here you are an angel from heaven!

I don't know if you'll ever get to see this, out of all the good-wishes and you-look-amazings, but I will let you know on my progress as well.

Oh, and you do look oh-so-fabulous!

Hi Lyn, Just stumbled on your Blog while looking for LC recipes. You are truly an inspiration! Congratulations on your weight loss, you must feel wonderful! Just started back on LC diet, my 3rd time, but made sure I had everything I needed to stick to it this time. Your recipes sound wonderful, bookmarked you in about 10 minutes of reading. I'm almost 54 and up to 285 at 5'6", so I can relate to your "before" pic, that's me. Doubt I'll ever see my 24" waste again, but I'd be thrilled to get into a size 12. Always feel healthier on low carb, less lung & sinus problems & incredible energy, not to mention how clear headed I feel only after a week, obviously the right plan. For all the time and effort you have put into this I have to say many thanks! You've given me hope that I can finally win this battle and change my way of living. Can't wait to show your blog to my husband, he's very excited about the LC and is adjusting to help me make it, he's lost s few pounds too! Best wishes to all! ~ Tracey

I have never left a post for anything before, looking at your pics and story I just had to tell you how inspiring you are. Just started on my long overdue weight loss journey, and am looking forward to losing. Inever thought to track my weight loss in inches I think that can be encouraging when the scale isn't so friendly. Again, I just wanted to say you've inspired me, thank you.

Hello Lyn! Congratulations! You look great!!! You should be so proud of yourself!!!!
As for the thinning hair, I had the same problem couple years ago. My hair loss was more stress related than caused by the weight loss, but I started to take a multivitamin for women (Rainbow light Just once) and my hair stopped failing out within 1 month. I was very happy with it. Maybe it can help you too! Best of luck! Jane
P.s. I do NOT sell vitamins!!! :)

Lyn, Thank God I found your post. It's my first day on Medifast and I need to lose about 40 lbs. I just have to say that you are inspiring to anyone who follows your progress. Thank you for being so candid. It's really a motivation. If you did it, I know I can too. Many continued blessings to you!

Hi, I stumbled across your blog last year and I 'bookmarked' it on my browser. I started my weight-loss journey then too. Whenever I felt lost or wanted to give up, I kept thinking of how you never gave up.
Now, 11 months later, I am 36 lbs lighter, and I traveled from a size 16 pants to size 10. I can even wear a size Medium top from my favorite clothing store (I couldn't wear any top this store a year ago).
I have a long way to go. I'm 5'1" and I still weigh 157 lbs (but some of it is muscle) but I know that one day, I will get to where I want to be.
Thanks a lot, Lyn.
