How I Did

Miss my last post? Scroll down!

Here's how I did on my evening out:

Drinks: unsweetened iced tea with fresh lemon wedges (2 glasses)
Bread basket: it was freshly baked sourdough, and I handled it to butter some for my little girl, but didn't want or have any.
Appetizer (shared): ahi tuna roll with pickled ginger (sooo good!)
Salad: fresh baby spinach with a few bits of VERY GOOD, high quality, flavorful blue cheese and some crumbled, toasted hazelnuts (maybe 1/2 Tbsp but boy did they make the salad!), with dressing on the side.
Entree: grilled fresh Halibut with a little bit of chive butter, and two sides of fresh steamed broccoli. It usually comes with mashed potatoes and broccoli, but I asked for no potatoes and double broccoli. Guess what? They forgot! I had about a heaping cup of potatoes on my plate and a little broccoli. Sometimes I'll send something back, but the potatoes were not bothering me so I scooted them over to the side and reminded the waiter about the rest of the broccoli, which he brought on another plate. Very good!
Dessert: I ordered a chocolate mousse, which I've had at this place in the past. It is to die for! I didn't eat it, though. I gave it to my daughter :) And it was such a pleasure watching her enjoy it.

Now I am home, sipping a wonderful hot cup of English breakfast tea, which tastes fantastic to me and is taking off the fall chill. I am satisfied, full but not OVERfull or stuffed. I love this way of eating. I sleep better at night and am not ready for a nap right after I eat. I feel great!

Cost of the above meal in its entirety, before the "free" gift certificate was applied: $55.00
Enjoying myself while staying on plan: priceless.

That is fantastic. You made great choices. I have to be careful, I've found that I've been pushing some sweets off on my boyfriend...maybe my son (gotta watch that) to watch them enjoy it. lol

Loved the end of your post...cute. You really seem on track and kicking butt!! Really proud of you.

The best part about being on a diet is that it's a diet on your wallet too!

Does it leave you feeling "powerful" when you succeed like that eating out, Lyn? I seriously walk away with my chest puffed out and a proud grin no my face every time I navigate a potential land mine situation successfully!!!

Have a great idea. On the day you see 100 pounds lost on the scales, set a challenge for 100 people to respond with comments... special comments... telling of something they did that day in a special act of generosity, encouragement, or kindness for somebody trying to lose weight/get healthier. That way, we can all celebrate in a very real way and help others on their journeys, too.
