Weekly Round-up

I like taking Sundays to just look back over my week and see how I've done. I do a little self-assessment, add up how many days I was on plan, how often I exercised, what I ate and the scale results. I think it helps me stay on track and tweak things that could be helpful or detrimental to my weight loss.

Last Sunday I weighed in at 195 pounds. Today, I weigh 191. That's four pounds gone this week! A good loss, since I've been averaging just under 2 pounds per week (7 per month over the last few months). Here's what this week looked like:

100% on plan eating.
Exercise: two 1-mile walks, two 3/4 mile walks, and three walks to the park.
One dinner out at a restaurant.

Some stuff I ate this week:
Fish, salad w/blue cheese dressing, steamed green beans
Lean, local grass fed ground beef cooked with tomato sauce & taco seasonings over a bed of Romaine & fresh tomatoes with Litehouse Lite Salsa Ranch dressing
Chicken breast cooked in Dijon mustard sauce, with steamed broccoli and salad
Fresh cucumber salad with low fat mozzarella cheese and hard boiled eggs
Scrambled Egg Beaters with spinach and mushrooms
Deviled eggs (I love these!) with fresh, locally grown steamed asparagus

On my birthday there was an ice cream cake, and I made myself a Medifast brownie which I topped with about 2 Tablespoons of that ice cream cake. It was really good and I got to enjoy the festivities.

Another great week under my belt! I rewarded myself this morning by boxing up yet another box of "fat clothes" that were falling off me. They're going on Craigslist this afternoon! It won't be long before I am posting another set of pictures for 90 pounds gone. I can hardly wait!

Enjoy your weekend!

WOW!! Congrats on a fabulous week Lyn!!! I'm so glad I found your blog again. I was a regular follower and then somehow lost you (???). I think you were around 230 then. So thrilled to see your number starts with a ONE now!! Congratulations!! I'm still struggling - but your blog helps inspire me! Thank you so much for putting it all "out there" - you REALLY do make a difference. ......Lisa (who's hoping to have a number that starts with a ONE by the end of August!!)

I am such a lazybutt about the weights!! I have not done them in awhile. I get started, I do them for a couple weeks, then I start wondering if I am doing any good or doing it correctly and I get bored with it and stop. But I do prefer the firmness I feel when I am lifting. I will get back to it, though, probably in the fall. I need to do something to counter the flab!

Another great week! Well done!

I also love deviled eggs! Eggs are probably the reason I will never be vegan - they can keep the dairy and the meat, but I want an egg every once in a while...

So happy for you! You're now lower than the lowest I got before my fricking knees got messed up! 4 pounds in a week is amazing!

I've been reading for the past few months, and I've also read some of your earlier entries. In one of them you said that when you hit 191 you would officially be in the "overweight" category and no longer "obese". Does this mean you've done it?! You've escaped from obesity?!

Annymous (Rachel)~

not quite. When I did my original BMI calculations I was going on what I thought was my height... 5'7. But about a year into blogging and weight loss I actually was measured at 5'6 at the doctors and then re-measured myself at home... yep, 5'6! Not sure if the original measurement in my late teens was wrong, or if I got shorter! But now I have to be 185 to have a non-obese BMI.

I know you like mashed cauliflower so I thought I'd share an idea with you.

Ever heard of shepherd's pie? How about Italian shepherd's pie? I'm posting a recipe for you. Just substitute the mashed potatoes and whatever cheeses you can have and/or like. I omit the sausage and only use ground beef!
