60 Pounds Gone... Again!

I am SO excited today! I finally am back down to 218 which means SIXTY pounds gone! The last time I hit this milestone was in June of 2008! It had taken me 10 months to lose 60 pounds. Then in late August after hitting a low of 214, my weight shot back up into the 220s and I spent the next 18+ months struggling between 225 and 245. Now after 20 months of working at it and never giving up, I'm back to 218 and couldn't be happier today! I took some new pictures to celebrate, as well as to see how my body has changed over time.

The picture in green is from 2008; the one in pink was taken today. In both pictures, I weighed 218 pounds.

From the side:

I am just so thrilled I could sing and dance! But instead, I made myself a breakfast of matcha green tea, scrambled Medifast eggs, a Morningstar Farms sausage patty, and some hazelnut coffee with half & half and sugar free vanilla syrup. And I will take a nice long walk in the sunshine this afternoon. I strength trained my upper body yesterday and emotionally I feel amazing today!

If I could share one big, important, *essential* concept with everyone who reads this, it would be this: NEVER give up. If it takes you a month, if it takes you six months, if it takes you a year or even if it takes you TWENTY MONTHS to go from 225 to 218, DO IT. Just do it. It is SO worth it, the time will pass anyway and you can be fatter or thinner at the end of that time. I am so glad I did not throw in the towel and go back to bingeing when I didn't get the results I wanted. Just keep working at it. Try different things. Do not give up and you will get there!

Lyn, you look amazing! Smaller this time around than last time! You are the inspiration I needed to keep going today. I am back on day 1 of Medifast and was mentally struggling until I saw this post.

I will NEVER give up. Never!

I am minutes away from tossing candy in the garbage - I am sick and tired of being a sugar addict and I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!! I may have done this before but I will do it again and I will free myself from sugar!
Thanks, Lyn!

Congrats!!! A well-deserved victory!!! That's interesting, you do definitely look smaller at 218 this time around than you did before. I'm guessing that the work you've done since you were last 218--cleaner eating, more exercise--has made a difference.

Congratulations!!! I've been stalking your site now for a couple of weeks. You have come such a long way!!! I went out this week and bought some new sports bras, so now I HAVE to get my butt in gear! I've been at a low lately, and knowing that it can happen, is just what I needed. You look amazing, and as many others have noted, much slimmer than your original! Keep it up!!!

Thank you again for your awesome inspiration. I've been reading your blog for as long as i've been on this round of weight loss (a year now). I have lost up to 10kg in that time and then gained, and lost, and gained. And you're absolutely right - it's about not giving up. Even when I was gaining over the past year I was still tracking, still trying, still analysing why. Now I feel confident that I can reach goal, and I don't care how long it takes! Though sooner would be better ;)

Leslie said...

No lie - you look better at 218 now than in 2008. Not sure why, but it's a fact. Congratulations! So thrilled for you Lyn. Can't wait to see future shots! You. Are. Doing. This. Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!

Lyn,

You always have a way of bringing it home to your audience. Thanks for being a living example that the result is what counts and not the length of time to achieve it.

BTW...I think your 218 looks even better than it did before!

Lyn,
Thank you for writing this. I relate to you a bunch, and sometimes it's so much more helpful to see change and hope in someone else than it is in yourself. I've been struggling emotionally lately, and you just reminded me why I need to keep on keeping on.

Lyn, you look so much smaller than the previous picture at the same weight. Do you think it's not eating many carbs that does this? I read all the time about people whose faces "swell up" when they eat a lot of carbs. I ask cause I'm doing Wonder Slim, which is the poor man's Medifast LOL.

In any event, you would never guess you weigh more than 200.

PalaM (& others)~

I don't really know why I look smaller but I did wear those capri jeans when I weighed 214 and they fit about the same now. My measurements are all within a half in of what they were in 2008. I do think that all the time that passed DID allow some of the loose skin to firm up AND yes I am much more physically fit/conditioned now than I was, with a lot of hours of exercise behind me. I can't wait for 208 pound pictures!
