Sunday News

Just a little note to say, my school meeting for my son went very well, and I got everything I asked for. I just had to repeat myself 20 times and then they got it :) (Yet another place where tenacity pays off. It's not just for weight loss!) I also took one of my kids to a birthday party this weekend, where food abounded, but I did not partake. I had a bottle of water.

Today:

Breakfast: Chai tea with skim milk & 1 tsp agave nectar, large omelet made with lots of Crimini mushrooms, organic baby spinach, Virginia ham, light Colby jack cheese, and Egg Beaters, and a cup of mandarin orange green tea.

Lunch: 4 oz grilled chicken with a bit of mayo, lettuce, and tomato slices, and a sugar free iced hazelnut latte.

Snack: low fat yogurt with almonds. I am getting a little hungry now so I will probably have a string cheese, maybe a pickle, maybe some more almonds, and some water.

Dinner will be roasted chicken (I'll have a breast) with lots of veggies. I'll probably steam some asparagus and roast some broccoli with garlic, too. I will make some mashed potatoes for the rest of the family but I'm not having any of those.

If I want a snack later, I'll have something light.

I already walked a mile outside and probably a good 1/2 to 3/4 mile at the mall today.

Doing great and enjoying freedom from the binge monster!

Lucky you - you can spend time outside! It was a beautiful sunny day today... but still quite cold! And now it's going to snow for 3 days... sigh :(

But YAY for good days!!!

You really seem to be doing well without the white devil (hehe, sugar). Keep it up!

Good Job! I have thought about giving up the white stuff too.....Still a thought though......How did you start and what are you replacing it with?

I pretty much threw out the sugar about a month ago, but that wasnt enough for me. I really gave it ALL up by just finding a Phase 1 food list for the South Beach Diet online, which cuts out a lot of high carb items for 2-3 weeks and then you start adding back in GOOD carbs slowly (like fruits and whole grains). So I've been just eating off that list and nothing else (lean meats, low fat dairy, vegetables, nuts, beans mostly).

Did you have withdrawals? If so, how bad were they? I don't want to turn into a really ornery person. But I am really sick of my fat belly. I almost look 9 months pregnant. But at least being pregnant was cute and had some style. This fat blob that I have now doesn't.

No, I didn't have any withdrawals at all. On about the third and fourth day, in the evenings, I really wanted some sugar, but I didn't get crazy or anything. It was bearable. No other "side effects."

I have heard of people getting headaches or not feeling well for a few days when going off sugar, and in fact I think I had a bit of that back in 2003 when I did this, but it wasn't too bad.

Better than the mood swings from bingeing on sugar, imo! :)
