I'm Sick

Just a short Sunday update. I am sick! I seem to have some kind of flu-type illness: chills, fever, aches, exhaustion, sore throat, etc. My daughter has it too. No fun here. I came down sick yesterday.

I am just drinking lots of tea, oatmeal for breakfast, having turkey soup for lunch. I feel just horrid. I usually *gain* weight when I am sick (fluid retention, maybe?) so I am a bit concerned about my weigh in tomorrow, especially after Thanksgiving. But if I can just post a net LOSS for November, I will be happy.

Til tomorrow...

Hi Lyn,
hope you're feeling well soon! Thanks for your message. I am still here, but work and stress have gotten the best of me. Not so much in the zone anymore, and I'm terrified of weighing, but I keep trying to stand back up...

Lyn, I hope you feel better soon, soon, soon. I've had bronchitis for the last two weeks with sore throat, so can empathize. Rest and recover, then you can focus again. xo Miche

I hope you feel better soon. I'm just coming out of it and my body also didn't release as much as I expected this week. I think it's got something to do with your body being too busy fighting the cold/flu to worry about weight loss.

Keep hydrated!

I hope you get to feeling better quickly, Lyn. It sucks to be sick, especially when you have little ones to take care of. Hopefully the hubby will step up and give you a break. (Hugs)
Just a tidbit, something that has helped my dad and my 7 year old recently with their terrible colds/sinus infections is drinking raw, organic and unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar 3 times a day. I have a post about it over at my blog, it's made a huge difference over at this house. :-)

Get well!

Believe me... the weigh in isn't important. I usually gain when I'm sick as well, except for what I have now. I would GLADLY trade...

Lyn, hope you are feeling better soon! Thanks so much for sharing your struggles in this blog. I cheered when you spit the baklava out!!! Yes, you had a binge day, but you have also done a lot of things right. And you will be better prepared to deal with this same situation in the future. You ARE making progress. I'm pulling for you.

Lyn, thank you for your comment(s), it really made my day. Sometimes, it makes this rutted road we are walking on, easier..knowing we are not alone.

For my 7 year old I give her about 8 oz of water/apple juice mixture and then 2 tsp of the apple cider vinegar (I started with 1 tsp but upped it). It might help to not mix it with water to cover the taste even better. Also, I would put it in a sippy cup so she won't smell the vinegar as well.

Another tip that helps with night time cough is putting a thick layer of Vicks vapo rub on the bottom of her feet (yes, it sounds crazy LOL but this works so well for us) and then put a pair of old socks on over it.

Hope you both feel better quickly.
