The Delicious Dozen II: Favorite Healthy Products

A year ago I posted a list of my top twelve favorite healthy food products. I still use ALL of those products and they help me have delicious, satisfying foods while I am losing weight. But over the past year I have discovered even MORE great healthy products, and I wanted to share! So here they are: the Delicious Dozen II.



Fiber Wise pasta! This pasta has 12 grams of fiber per serving and tastes great. It's the elbow macaroni I used in my Butternut Squash Mac n' Cheese. Yummy. Comes in lots of shapes: shells, spirals, penne, etc.






Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax granola bars. I really love the sweetness and crunch of these with a cup of hot tea. One serving has 4 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 300 mg of Omega-3's. But really, I love lots of different Kashi products, including...





Kashi Heart 2 Heart Honey Oat Waffles with Green tea. Love these! At only 80 calories per waffle, they're a nutritional bargain. In the summertime I eat one of these for breakfast almost every morning, slathered with melty peanut butter and topped with a handful of fresh blueberries. Excellent.




Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cereal is crunchy, sweet, and delicious. Each serving contains 4 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein. Great to bring in a baggie as a snack. And a tasty way to fit in that soluble fiber for heart health.





Mission Carb Balance Flour Tortillas. These come in "white" and whole wheat, and in 6", 8" and 10" sizes. I use the white 8" Soft Taco size and my kids cannot tell the difference. Large and soft, each tortilla has only 110 calories but boasts 11 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein. Great for tacos or sandwich wraps.





Oroweat Double Fiber English Muffins. I believe Oroweat is known as Arnold or Brownberry on the east coast and other areas of the country. These might be hard to find if you're not out west. I couldn't even find a photo of them (pictured are the whole wheat variety). I get them at Walmart. Look for other brands of Double Fiber bread items to try. Only 110 calories with 8 grams of fiber.





Fiber One Key Lime Yogurt. I really love the creamy, rich texture and the realistic Key Lime Pie flavor of these! A nice, fiber-filled indulgence. Only 80 calories, and 5 grams of fiber. (Pictured: strawberry).






Blue Diamond Natural Oven Roasted Almonds, in Cinnamon Brown Sugar and Vanilla Bean. I LOVE these. Whenever I need a little something to tide me over, I eat 6 of these almonds and I feel better. Only 40 calories in 6 nuts and less than a gram of sugar. The flavor is really just a slight dusting, not an overwhelming sugary coat.




Sunsweet Orange Essence Prunes. Okay, I know what you're thinking. PRUNES???? Yuck! But wait. I hated prunes too. But listen, these are GOOD. Like candy almost. They taste nice and orangey, are so soft and moist and tasty. I eat 3 or 4 of them at a time and have no ill effects (if you know what I mean). They also come in Cherry Essence and Lemon Essence, but I like the Orange best. Only 20 calories each, and rich in nutrition.



Laughing Cow Light Swiss Cheese. Only 35 calories per wedge. Makes a nice substitute for cheese/mayo in a wrap or sandwich. Tastes yummy alone or on a celery stick. Melts into noodles for a light cheese sauce. Or my favorite way to eat these: spread on top of a...



Wasa "Crispbread" Cracker. Lots of types to choose from. These crackers are very crisp and flavorful. The Crisp n' Light 7-grain has only 20 calories per piece, and these are rather large crackers! One cracker with a Laughing Cow light wedge spread on top makes a great snack. Also great with tuna salad or chicken salad on top.



Egg Beaters. I use these instead of eggs in just about everything. One egg has 80 calories, but one Egg Beater (1/4 c) has 30. Be sure and choose Original Egg beaters for the least fat and cholesterol. I use these in omelets, scrambles, breakfast sandwiches and wraps. I also use them when I bake, substituting for eggs in the recipe.

my bod is composed of about 80% egg beaters.
not that thats a good thing----Im just sayin'

now the fiberwise.
should I really try that?

why do I recall seeing it and thinking I was wayyy too cheap :)

I'm going to have to do this for this side of your Northern board, well at least for Ontario. The products you have listed, aside from Eggbeaters, I have never seen here. Although I've seen the Kashi brand that has bars and granola type cereal. We don't buy a lot of premade things. I've been a fan of Eggbeaters, I really prefer the actually egg in a shell. Maybe the products I enjoy here in Ontario, Canada will be the topic of a future post.

Oooooh Lyn - have you tried Joseph's flax wraps? Incredibly low glycemic level and I think 7 net carbs per wrap. 60 calories.. and are HUGE! Make awesome wraps, quesadillas... etc. They are my bread fetish :) Check them out here: http://www.josephsmiddleeastbakery.com/

I always want to buy those almonds but I'm afraid I'll "go nuts" and eat the whole thing...one day! Nice choices!
I swear by laughing cow. YUM!

I DID just switch from Egg Beaters to cracking my own eggs and separating out the whites because by me Egg Beaters are SO expensive, I don't know what it is!

ooo I love so many of those things and they are in my daily diet. I especially love the pumpkin spice flax Kashi bar, and the almonds (loooove brown sugar cinnamon).

I just love Wasa and Laughing cow cheese!
Wasa is the only type of 'bread' that I don't binge on.
