When I first saw these pictures, I was dismayed. I didn't see any real difference from ten pounds ago. Granted, ten pounds is not earth shattering, but I had hoped to see some big changes anyway. I almost didn't want to post them at all. I even tried on a different shirt to see if I looked thinner (ha). But in the interests of honesty and "being real," I am gonna post them anyway. I do hope folks can see some changes in these. Compare to the "before" pictures on the left sidebar.
What helped me the most is remembering that over this last 10 pounds, my upper body measurements barely changed, but my lower body shrunk significantly... 3/4" off each thigh and 1.75" off my hips. I don't measure my butt, but let me say that all my jeans have become quite baggy in the rear and thighs this month. So that's where I look for the changes... and I do think these pictures show a bit of a smaller lower half. I do realize the picture quality is pretty rough. Maybe I will get brave next time and let someone ELSE take my picture, in adequate lighting, instead trying to keep taking them myself in my mirror and then cropping off my head. Maybe...
In the meantime, I thought I would share a picture I found today of me in 2006 at about 278 (or more) pounds. I think my legs have changed a bit. But look, my head is the same, and my baby looks just like me!
I am 38 years old, female, a degree-holding stay-at-home-mom, and I weigh 278 pounds. I have been obese for ten years now. Time to get out of this fat prison I have made for myself.
--This is the original introduction I wrote when I first started this blog in 2007. I leave it as a reminder to myself of where I came from. Currently, I am 46 years old and weigh significantly less...see the blog for details. I lost 103 pounds, then had a partial regain, and am once again working at weight loss and better health.
