He Noticed!

Some of you may remember way back when I was wondering how long it would take for my husband to comment on my weight loss. I have been silently plugging along, not mentioning "diet" or "weight" but just talking about eating right and getting healthy. As the pounds dropped off and the sizes went down, I too started to wonder when he would notice. But I was determined to get an UNSOLICITED comment.

Well it has finally happened. This morning after a 30 minute ride on my bike, he said to me, "are you losing weight?" I replied, "Yes. Do you see a difference?" and he said "yes, I see a difference." I said, "Fifty pounds so far." Husband's jaw dropped. "WHAT?????" I repeated, "fifty pounds." He looked pretty stunned and said, "That's amazing!"

There you have it! He noticed.

As a side note, one of the reasons I truly value the online community (blogging and message boards) is because this is where I get pretty much all of my support and encouragement. I have no family around but Husband and the kids, and I am kind of isolated at the moment from friends. I need to start making an effort to reconnect in person with friends. Being morbidly obese sucked the life out of me and I withdrew a lot socially. I hope to change that over the next few months.

Update pictures have been taken and will be posted shortly!

Yipee. Hip-Hip-HOORAY! I'm so glad he noticed FINALLY. I can't believe he never noticed before because you can definately see the difference between the before and after pictures you've already taken, never mind new ones where you've lost EVEN MORE! I bet he was shocked to find out it was 50 pounds, don't you wish you had your camera ready for the jaw dropping moment?

I finally figured out how to post a comment after all this time of reading the blog..YAY!

You look amazing - Perhaps dear hubby needs glasses. Or perhaps he needs to get closer to you! :P

I'm so happy for you that he finally noticed! People that see us every day don't notice the gradual changes that are made as easily... then throw a Y chromosome into the mix, and they're usually just totally oblivious. LOL. Good for him for FINALLY seeing that there's less of you!

Congrats!
I, too, have been relying on the weight loss blog community for ideas and even more importantly for support. My hubby is watching calories and losing weight as well and he has noticed how baggy my clothes are. I still think it is a real boost to the morale when an "outsider" notices. Keep up the good work! can't wait to see the new pics

Good going! When my hubby finally noticed I didn't quite get the reaction I had hoped for. I think it went something like, "You've been losing weight haven't you? You're making me look bad." Yeah, that's EXACTLY why I decided to lose weight.

But, good for you and good for the hubby for FINALLY noticing. I think sometimes they are scared to say anything until it is completely obvious. They don't want to get in trouble, I guess. Either that or their completely oblivious. ;)

its about time!! so glad he finally noticed, and I agree about the blog community. its so great to have this support, especially for me since my LAWL center closed half way since I started the program and had to rely on myself.

YaY!

Men can be so oblivious about weight loss, diet, chicks in general. When I sat my to-be-husband down as I was getting back on the wagon he asked me how many more pounds I wanted to lose. He helpfully suggested 10 (I was aiming for another 80 or so after that two year plateau). Anyways, the husband was a keeper. ;c) So sweet coming from the clueless.
It's moments like you described though that make this journey worth it.
Keep up the great work!

How much better was it that he noticed the weight loss and commented without you having to ask! That's awesome!
