50 Pounds Gone (228)

Wow! I just can't believe it! Today I weighed in at 228... that's FIFTY pounds gone. I have never even come CLOSE to losing this much weight before. It is not coming off fast, but it is happening, and that's what matters.

As a point of interest, I have been tracking my "good" and "bad" days by placing a green or red X on the calendar. A bad day is when I went over my calorie goal (1500). Now here is the kicker:
It took me 18 days to go from 248 to 238 (10 pounds).
It took me 49 days to go from 238 to 228 (10 pounds)!
(And, just for clarity, I didn't lose ANY weight for over 2 months this winter).
Now, why did it take me 18 days to lose ten pounds and then 49 days to lose the next ten?? Answer:
17 of the 18 days were "good" days. Only one "bad" day.
38 of the 49 days were "good" days. There were 11 "bad" days.

So if I stay on plan 94% of the time I lose weight a lot faster than if I stay on plan 78% of the time. Go figure.

Now for the measurements! Yes, I take my measurements every ten pounds to show myself how far I have come. Mind you, I have more than doubled my bike riding and added strength training 3x a week since ten pounds ago. The results?

In just the last ten pounds, I have lost:
1" off my neck
1/4" off my chest
1" off my waist
1.75" off my massive child-bearing hips
and 3/4" off each thigh.

Yeah! This is great, especially considering that I started last August with an unbelievable 58" set of hips. I have lost a total of 6.75" off my hips, 4" off my waist, 2.75" off EACH thigh, 4.25" off my chest, 1.25" off each upper arm, 1.75" off my neck and 1/4" off each wrist. I can see the results of biking helping to shrink my lower body, which is great. I do wish my arms would go down faster but that will happen in time.

Overall, I am thrilled, and I thank each and every person who has come by and left me an encouraging comment. You have helped me more than you know.

Update pictures to come...

Wow - and you have the stats to prove it!! Good days = weight lost; more good days = more weight loss! That's what I have to keep telling myself.

Yay!!! Congrats! Isn't it a wonder that if you stay on plan the majority of the time, you'll lose weight faster than if you on plan a ton less? :) I came to that realization a few weeks ago. When I had a loss of 0.4 and I thought wow, you know, if I don't go over my WW points, I might actually lose more than 0.4 :) Haha! Way to go!

Slow and steady - watching what you have accomplished gives me something to look forward to - - yes even at 1 1/2 pounds a week - they will all add up eventually.

You're awesome, Lyn!
Taking measurements once/month really helps, especially when you are exercising, and the scale is not cooperating.
Keep up the great work!
Just keep working on those arms; they will start shaping up, I promise!

BTW---the other day I was wanting something yummy and gooey and I remembered one of your post recommendations.

So, I sauteed some zucchini in a non-stick pan and topped it with a slice of reduced fat american cheese. So yummy and satisfying...

I don't do Weight Watchers anymore, but that would have been a very low point dish but it felt decadent. Calorie wise it wasn't high, but it was almost as good as pizza.

There are so many ways to have foods that will satisfy our cravings without hindering our success.

Congrats on making it do the 50 pounds gone mark on your weight loss journey. You've worked so hard and kept with it even when it was hard, even when you were stressed and even when the scale wasn't budging..

You've done well with your eating, been able to control your portions and overcome your emotional/binge eating. You've worked yourself up to more and more exercise time on the bike and you are losing weight and getting healthier each and everyday as a result of your hard work.

I hope you treat yourself to something nice for reaching that goal. A hair cut and style? A new pair of pants or cute shirt? A manicure or pedicure? Maybe just a lovely side by side picture frame with a before and after picture to remind you daily of how far you've truely come..

Whatever it is you do for yourself make it special because you've earned it! Keep up the great work!((huggles))
