NEVER QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!

If there is just one thing I could say to each and every fat person out there who is trying to lose weight, it would be this: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP! You cannot quit if you want to succeed! Oh how I wish I could pound that into everyone's head, as I finally have in my own! If only I had known that little fact... and truly believed it... ten years ago. The years that would not have been wasted being fat!! NEVER give up!!

As I said in my last post, I think a lot of people quit trying (at least for a few days, a few weeks, a few months) when they either hit a long plateau, or have a big fast gain. But here is your proof that if you DO NOT QUIT you WILL succeed:

In just 3 days, I am back down to 260 pounds.

Yes, that's right. All five pounds of "sickie/bingey" weight has come off. How did I do it?? Did I starve myself? Take laxatives? Go on a cabbage soup detox diet? No. I ate prime rib. I ate cheese. I ate yogurt, turkey sandwiches, and smoothies. I ate fresh corn with butter, and fresh peaches. But I ate EVERYTHING in moderation. I just went right back to my plan, threw away any junk, went to the Farmer's Market and stocked up on good stuff, and ate right. Drank lots of water. And look, the damages were not so damaging after all.

Now, what would have happened if I had thrown up my hands in disgust at the scale, and said, "It took 3 weeks to lose five pounds and 3 days to gain five pounds back, so I may as well eat whatever the heck I want! I will never be thin! This is too hard!" I will tell you where I would be. I would be at about 270 pounds. Because not only would I have held onto the 5 gained pounds, but I would've easily gained 5 more. So I am ten pounds better off than I would have been, just because of an attitude change.

You can do this. You can lose the weight. No more games and no more flying off for weeks or months. If you have a bad day or two, or three... get up, dust yourself off, and keep on going. Then and ONLY then will you reach your goal.

And you, with the cookies or Cheetos in your mouth as you are reading this... yeah, you know who you are... put them down. Flush them down the toilet or throw them in the trash and squirt mustard on it. Go get a big glass of water, and start RIGHT NOW. If you keep waiting for tomorrow, your todays will always be fat.

Much success to everyone!!

Great job! I'm glad to hear you dusted off your hands and knees and kept going. (Only took me about 25 years to figure that one out.)

I'm enjoying your blog. Thanks for the inspiration.

THREE CHEERS!!!! What an awsesome inspiration and great post.

I feel the same way - focus on health, making permanent changes and never ever giving up.

I've only lost four pounds since June - but sticking with it -- over all I've lost 90 lbs since May 1, 2006 -- I have a mere 62 more to go. Doesn't matter how long -- I'm going all the way!
