Nine Pounds in Nine Days (269)

I am happy! Yesterday I weighed in at 269. That means I have lost 9 pounds in 9 days! Not bad! Yes, I am sure some of it is water. But some is real weight, too, so I will take it. It feels so good to see the scale going in the right direction.

Of course the question people will ask is, "How did you do it?" Well, I did not take a magic pill, follow a strict regimen, run 6 miles a day, or starve myself. I did not even count calories, carbs, or fat. I threw out all the junk food in my house (yes I have kids but that is no excuse to have junk). I went to the farmer's market and filled the house with fresh produce. Whenever I want a snack or start to get hungry, I go look in the kitchen and I see a bowl of cut-up watermelon, a bowl of cantalope chunks, fresh blueberries and blackberries, apples, peaches, plums, mangoes. I do tend to reach for fruit over veggies, but at my meals, I am incorporating veggies too. I made some yummy spaghetti and meatballs the other day, but used ground turkey and Barilla Plus healthy pasta, and a nice lowfat spaghetti sauce. It was fabulous and I have been eating it for lunch since. I eat as much as I want until I feel satisfied. Then I STOP. I am drinking a glass of water when I get up, at every meal and snack, and whenever I think of it. I drink 1-3 glasses of iced green tea or black tea daily too. I even had a chocolate dipped granola bar as a treat the other day. But generally no junk! I feel so content! I have too much joint pain to exercise at this point but I am doing housework and such, to get moving.

I finally feel in control of my LIFE. Not just my weight, but my life. It's a great feeling.
